Mary and the Ghost (Ghost Story)
It was a dark and stormy night, and the wind was howling through the trees. The moon was hidden behind thick clouds, making the darkness seem even more oppressive.
John and his wife, Mary, had just moved into a new house. It was an old, run-down Victorian mansion that had been abandoned for years. They had heard rumors that it was haunted, but they had dismissed them as nothing more than superstitious nonsense.
But as they settled into their new home, strange things began to happen. Mary began to see strange figures in the shadows, and John heard mysterious noises coming from the attic.
One night, Mary awoke to find a ghostly figure standing at the foot of her bed. It beckoned her to follow it upstairs. She was too afraid to move, but the ghostly figure seemed to be calling her name.
Slowly, she got out of bed and followed the figure up the stairs. When she got to the attic, she gasped in horror. There, standing in the middle of the room, was the ghost of a woman. She was wearing an old-fashioned dress, and her face was pale and expressionless.
The ghost beckoned to Mary, and she followed it out into the garden. There, the ghost told her a story of a young girl who had died in the house many years ago. The ghost asked Mary to help her find peace and laid her hand on Mary's shoulder.
The next morning, Mary awoke to find the ghost gone and no trace of it ever having been there. But she still feels the ghost's presence in the house. She knows it's still there, watching over her and her family, and she knows it will always remain.
